My grandpa was one of the most patient men anyone could know. When I was about 10 years old I was spending the weekend with nana and grandpa. Grandpa was sitting on the porch while I played in the front yard. I had found some paddles and a ball and I was hitting the ball up onto the roof of the porch. The ball would roll back down and fall off. I kept hitting it back up. Finally grandpa said to me very calmly and matter of factly, "girl, if you keep it up you are gonna break a window". Of course I just laughed and said "no I won't grandpa". Within just a few minutes his prediction came true. I hit the ball into the window and it shattered. It didn't fall out all over but it definitely needed to be replaced. All he did was smile, chuckle a bit as grandpa did and he said "girl, I told you, you were gonna break that window". I will forever cherish all the time I had with him, and appreciate his love.

This was a letter that I wrote to my father in law two weeks before his passing yesterday, he never had the chance to hear these words, but I somehow hope he knew my heart and how I felt, My wonderful daughter read this to him yesterday, even after he passed. For this thank you Melissa. Father, I wish I could talk to you and hear your voice on the phone but les tells me it's difficult for you to talk at this time, so here I am writing you this letter. I wish more than anything I could see you, but I'm sure I wont get to Florida again, as you won't get back to Vermont. So, I want to say some things that I would say on the phone, but can't, first off I want you to know how much I LOVE you, and how much I always have. Life is a mystery, you and your family came into my life so many years ago, when I really needed a family. You and Mother both gave me such love, and accepted me with open hearts and arms. For this I will always be grateful. You're truly the father I never had. You gave me so many things, love, happiness, a sense of family. You were always so strong, and in your strength brought great comfort. Then came Melissa & Daniel, I've never seen such love between grandchildren and a grandfather. Thank you for your love of them, and all the memories they will carry in their hearts because of your love and your given nature. You have inspired me in so many ways, you can never know how much. You truly are a gift from god. I so believe there are angels among us, and in my heart you're a very special angel that god sent to love us all. You have no idea how much you have given to everyone around you, how much inspiration, and shared your gentle heart with each one of us. I have never known a man that gave of himself as much as you. I know someday in time, you will look down from heaven upon us all and you will be our sunshine and a reminder every day that there are angels, because we will always carry you in our hearts. And may all gods angels keep you, love you and rejoice in you and your love.My Love always & forever ( To a special and loving father)Anna
