Edith D. Boyd's Obituary
Edith D. Boyd, 89, passed away May 20, 2013. She was born January 19, 1924, on a Saturday, at 9:15 a.m. in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, to the late Thomas and Mary (Zervos) Ayres.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by son, Thomas Chetwood; sister, Emily Munson; brother, Robert Ayers; husbands, Estel Morgan Chetwood, William Greer, Stanley Bukunt, Victor DeBellis, and Walter Boyd.Edith leaves behind her two loving Daughters: Mary Ellen Spellman of Fort Myers and Emily Chetwood Iberger of Lehigh Acres; Grandchildren: Matthew Harold Spellman, Jonathan Marshall Spellman, Amy Lyn Iberger and Alison Meredith Iberger; Niece Donna P. Brown; Nephews: R.D. Ayres and Charles Ayres of Chesterton, Indiana.Edith also leaves behind her Sister-in-Law Olga Ayres of Chesterton, Indiana, and Brother-In-Law, Charles Munson of Lehigh Acres, who has been a devoted and loving Brother and friend to Edith over the years here in Lehigh as well as in Flushing, New York.Edith was a full time Mom as well as a restaurateur in Huntington, New York, before moving to Lee County in 1988. Edith was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lehigh, as well as an active member of the Elks Lodge in Lehigh Acres and the Elks Lodge in Great Neck, New York. Edith loved to play golf and was an avid swimmer. She enjoyed watching TV soap operas, HBO, and movies with her Grandson Matthew, and enjoyed Skyping and spending Facetime with Grandson Jon while up in Jacksonville, Florida, attending Law School. She especially enjoyed spending quality after-school time with her Granddaughters, Amy and Ali, overseeing their homework, teaching them to swim, and taking great joy in watching them grow. She was a Lady Elk involved in club social events, and was an active member of the Social Committee of the Fairways III Condo Association in Lehigh Acres.Memories and condolences may be left online at www.fortmyersmemorial.com, and Donations in lieu of Flowers can be made to the Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers Florida.
