Dear Terri, Lisa, Al and Michael, I wish you all peace of heart and joy in celebrating Ed's life. The few times that I had spoken to Ed, it was always related stories of the years of being a P town cop. From my Uncle Al Ferrara who was a lieutenant (retired several years ahead of Ed, to my cousin Casper Pariese Paterson's famous traffic enforcement officer, to my brother who retired from Fairfield NJ and me from Paterson but joined and retired from the Miami Police department. Ed loved to hear about it all. So from all of us who served for the common good ... rest easy Hero, we have the watch now. I hope that these meager offerings of condolence give you the warmth and comfort they are intended to do. Your soul shines brilliantly as you are surrounded by truly loving friends and family. An officer stood in front of God,
For all this must come to pass.
The officer hoped his life to shine
Just as brilliantly as his brass.
Step forward officer and tell me
to your colleagues and career Have you been true?
You know Lord that the streets aren't kindly place
so I had to be a tad bit rough on a time or two
Officer, there is no need to apologize
it is the truth in your heart that I can tell
come patrol a beat on heaven's street
as you've done your time in hell.
Terri and family, so very sorry for your loss and may Ed RIP. Ed was a close friend of my Brother Rocky and Johny Greenway and through them I had the pleasure of meeting Ed. Hope it is proper to share this memory. Whenever I think of Ed it brings back a memory of a hunting trip we all shared and including my Dad. I had a friend Andy who owned a cabin in Berlin New York, Andy let me use his cabin and land to stay and hunt. When we got to the cabin and my friend opened the door it was quite a mess and we didn't know what to say other than; thank you. As he handed the key and left us Ed started with the jokes, and boy did he have the material beginning with a large open room with a toilet bowl right in the middle over a hole in the floor, an upstairs with a 1000 flies on the floor, burned pots and pans, dirt everywhere. Going immediately to the nearest store for mops, lysol, etc we came back for the clean up. We worked hours and Ed kept us all in stiches, joke after joke, my Dad was in tears and when we finally went to sleep every so ofen Ed would shout out some new remark making us all laugh again. That is the memory I have of Ed, one that has stayed with me from back in the 70's, a funny, compasionate man who served his country as a Police Officer, I am honored to have know Ed. God bring Ed home to eternal peace and watch over Terri and family.

I am so sorry about Ed's passing, please accept my deepest condolences. Ed was such a great and nice guy. He told the best and funniest stories, especially about being the police, back in the day! I will truly miss and always remember my "Beer tending partner" whenever the Summer Holidays and St. Patrick's Day come around. Ed has truly earned his "Beat" on the other side of Heaven's Gate, may God Bless Ed and hold him in the palm of His hands. You will Never Be Forgotten, Rest in Peace my Friend and Brother in Blue.
