Elizabeth “Beth” Murphy passed away on Tuesday, July 16. Born in Savannah, Ga. on August 20, she was a resident of Fort Myers since 1993. Beth is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Edward Murphy; her three children and th Read Obituary
We just learned about Beth's death today. We are deeply shocked. We met her in December 1997 at the Blue Dolphin. We found Beth so nice, likeable and competent from the beginning. She made us feel like more than just guests. We have been guests at the Blue Dolphin and Beth every year since then. Beth was the good soul of the Blue Dolphin for us. We liked her very much. We will miss her very much.
We are very sad.

Beth was...everything. First time I met her was at the Blue Dolphin. I'd been staying there since the early 90s, & meeting her was the first time I felt like I had a true friend on Sanibel. A beautiful woman, inside and out. A beautiful family that filled her life with love. We are all blessed in knowing her, she made an impact on our hearts that will never, ever be forgotten. Ever. Rest in peace, dearest Elizabeth.

She was a wonderful woman who always had a smile on her face and was always willing to stop and talk to you. I will miss getting her fishing reports and beach reports. Beth will be missed by many. We may have lost a great person here on earth, but Heaven just gained a truly amazing soul.
My boyfriend Patrick and I are saddened by the passing of Beth. She was a wonderful person. We always looked forward to checking into The Blue Dolphin and getting to chat with Beth. She truly was the heart of the cottages. My heart goes out to her family & the Blue Dolphin family. Sanibel will never be the same. RIP sweet Beth you were loved by so many.
Sail among the stars, dear girl. You were the heart and soul of the Blue Dolphin Cottages, and you will be greatly missed by all of us Barretts, Woods, and Sheahans. I feel as if I know your family from seeing their photos and hearing you speak of them over the years. Our hearts are with your family, and I know we WILL see you again someday.
