Cynthia Wright sent a virtual gift in memory of Ella Baker

Ms. Ella Ann Baker was beautiful inside and out, generous, loving, and had a heart of gold!
She was an outstanding seamstress...a perfectionist. She made two-piece suits for her husband, Frank.
My adopted Mama Baker is now free of pain and in our Lord's arms, with her husband, Frank Baker, at her side. She will dearly be missed.
These are my memories.
I met Mama Baker 50 years ago when Sharon introduced me to her.
Sharon and I lived in the same neighborhood and graduated from Herndon High School in Virginia.
Sharon told her Mother I had trouble finding an evening gown for my High School Home Coming Dance.
I was so excited and relieved that Mama Baker offered to make my gown!
She asked me what my favorite colors were, took my measurements, and created/designed a beautiful long sleeve gown of red velvet material and a touch of white lace for the top and with a long white silky, flowing skirt to the floor.
Oh yes, I felt like a little princess!
As years passed, Mama Baker called me at work and asked me to stop by on the way home.
She surprised me with several beautiful outfits for my first job! For which I received many compliments from my co-workers.
Mama Baker didn't stop there! She also made additional evening gowns, which I needed for other special formal events—each time, I offered to cover the cost and labor, and each time she refused.
Mama Baker also offered to make my Mother a beautiful long light-yellow formal dress for my brother's wedding.
My 97-year young Mother still has this gown in her closet!
I, too, have my red and white evening gown and a queen-size memory blanket that shows all the materials she used to make my outfits and dresses.
It is hard to depart from something so beautiful, knowing that every stitch and cut was made with her Love!
Mama Baker moved to Florida...I married and moved several times to other states, but we never lost contact, especially on Mother's Day and special occasions.
Whenever she spoke to my Mother, she would always thank my Mother for sharing me with her.
Our close relationship lasted for many years, creating precious memories I will cherish forever.
Love lives on forever in each memory and thoughts of the special ones who meant so much and the happiness they bought.
Love lives on forever: it will never fade away.
For in our hearts, our loved ones are with us every day.
I Love you, Mama Baker. I will dearly miss our chats and laughter on the phone, and you will still be remembered on Mother's Day and every day.
To Sharon and Family members, my Mother and I extend our deep Heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your Dear Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grandmother.
Our Love,
Cynthia Velasco Wright and my Mother, Mercedes Velasco
Parker and I were lucky enough to visit Aunt Ella each year since he was little. Our last visit was 6 years ago. We visited, shared a meal, and snapped a picture before we left. She spoiled Cesar - feeding him from his own plate with a fork! Pretty sure he got some ice cream for dessert, too. She was such a sweet, special lady. We will miss you, Aunt Ella.
Love,
Sarah & Parker
Please accept my condolences in the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. Aunt Ella was a dear sweet lady and I enjoyed keeping in touch with her over the years by sharing emails with her until she stopped using her Mail Station. She was a favorite Aunt and I loved her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and pray that God will comfort you in this sad time. Your cousin, Elaine Alley
