Martha, Jennifer and Peter, Sorry to hear Gene passed away. Your family were great neighbors in Burlington, Ct. with many great memories. We now live in Edgewater, Fl and always thought about putting together a trip to visit you all. Unfortunately we didn’t make it and are sadden we didn’t. Martha, praying for you and your family that you find comfort during this time of your loss of our pal Gunny. Remembering that he was instrumental in recruiting Dan to join Bravo Company. We miss all of the many visits to Perkins after the meetings where we really got to get to know each other. Gene would always request lemon meringue pie and most of the time they were out of it. So when we meet again, we’re bringing one with us! May you rest in peace, brother!
I met Gunny in the check out line of our local Publix. He was right in front of me and told the check out girl not to give me any crap because I was a Viet Nam vet. We walked out together talking about the Brotherhood and he gave me an application. I said I would think about it. I went to a meeting and decided to join. We have been friends ever since. I would say he is the REAL Deal. We are going to miss you very much BROTHER.

I thanked him and we walked out of the store together talking. He gave me an application to join Bravo Co. and I told him I would consider it. I went to the next meeting and joined. Gunny and I were friends and neighbors for many years. I and Paula will certainly miss him, he was what I would call the real thing. He would do anything for you. I will miss you dearly BROTHER.
Gene you will be greatly missed by us all. I regret not meeting earlier in our lives, as we had a lot of the same interest and views. I enjoyed the back and forth banter about the Navy and Marines that we sometimes had, or any other wisecrack we might say to each other. I know you enjoyed it too as it would bring a smile to your face. God bless you and your family.Rest in peace my friend.
Martha, I am very sorry for your loss. Gene was a hell of a guy and a very good friend, I first met at the Publix by us, he was behind me in the checkout line and he told the cashier to not give me any crap because I was a Viet Nam vet. He gave me an application and urged me join the B. Co group. Gene will certainly be missed. Paula and I enjoyed our dinners at Perkins after the meetings.
