Gerald Max Phillips, 71, passed away August 4, 2012.?áHe was born September 14, 1940 in Louisville, Alabama to the late Buford and Eloise (Dunn) Phillips. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp after 30 years of service to our country.?áHe lived by the phrases, ?Ç£the Best in America Bar None?Ç¥ and ?Ç£Trust but Verify!?Ç¥?áAfter retirement he moved to Lee County in 1988.?áGerald loved spending time with his grandchildren, boating, fishing and was a huge Alabama Crimson Roll Tide fan. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Patricia of Cape Coral; sons, Mark Conway of Mooresville, North Carolina and Michael and his wife Jodi Conway of Spencer, North Carolina; daughter, Patricia and her husband Ben Lane of Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren, Jessica, Carolyn, Hannah, Carter, Gracie and Ella; sisters, Sadie and her husband Ken Young of Rush, Kentucky and Betty Faye and her husband Ronnie Jones of Scottsboro, Alabama and Dalton Edwards. There will be a memorial service on Friday, August 10th at 4:00 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.?áGraveside and Military Honors will follow.?á?á?á Memorial contributions may be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation at www.curemeso.org.?á?áCondolences may be left online at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
