Helen Beatrice Futhey's Obituary
Helen Beatrice Futhey, 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Brookdale Fort Myers Cypress Lakes. Helen was born in Peoria, IL to Frederick and Leona (Monjar) Hoffman. She was married to Leonard A. Futhey in 1940 and they had 51 years together until his death in 1991.Helen is survived by her two children, Doreen Futhey of Naples, FL and Janet Flanigan (Austin) of Ft. Myers, FL; two loving grandchildren, Brent Flanigan and Laura O’Connell (Brian Oppel); two great grandchildren, Sequoia O’Connell and Gavin Oppel; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rev. Philip Hoffman and Rev. William Hoffman; and one sister, Beulah Wittmer.Helen was Valedictorian of her high school class. Her husband, Leonard, served in World War II for two years. He was a self-employed carpenter, building homes in Peoria for 31 years. Helen was his bookkeeper. In 1983, they bought a home in Blue Sky’s Co-op, Naples, FL and spent winters there. In 1998, Helen moved to Naples full time.A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Parkway Baptist Church, 6211 Briarcliff Road, Ft.
