Homer Moore's Obituary
Homer Moore Jr. of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. He was 92 years old.Mr. Moore was born on February 25, 1924 in East Liverpool, Ohio, the proud son of Leona (Mellinger) and Homer Moore Sr. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army who participated in the European Theatre. He was decorated for meritorious service on several occasions and received two Purple Hearts for his valor in combat. Homer was a jack-of-all-trades who had a skill for operating heavy construction equipment and he could fix anything. Many will remember him for the years he worked as the manager of a local mobile home park. Homer was also a charter member of the North Fort Myers Rotary Club and was honored to serve as a Deacon at the North Fort Myers Baptist Church. He was the devoted husband to Esther Moore, who sadly preceded him in death on November 14, 1999.Homer leaves to cherish his loving memory his beloved daughters Sandra Gunning (Patrick) and Deborah Hitzing; grandchildren Belinda Hood, Shari Howard, Jennifer Hitzing-Caldwell and Justin Hitzing; great-grandchildren Dylan Hood, Hunter Hood, Paxton Howard, Logan Caldwell and Sydney Caldwell. He also leaves behind a number of extended family members and a multitude of people who were glad to call him a friend.A Memorial Service for Homer will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2016 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends will be received for an hour preceding this service beginning at 1:00 PM also in the funeral home chapel.
