Irene Edith (Farabee) Crow's Obituary
Proud daughter of southwest Florida’s Hendry, Carlton, Roberts and Farabee families. Youngest child of Dewitt Talmadge Farabee and Edith (Collins) Farabee,
Irene was born on Staley Road in Fort Myers and spent her early years riding horses chasing cows and running barefoot through the woods along Orange River or later taking the mailboat to enjoy a day at Sanibel with her sisters/brothers. During WWII she found an Army Air Corps pilot fishing in the Fort Myers yacht basin so she invited her future husband, Max R. Crow, to attend church at First United Methodist downtown and to a home cooked Sunday meal in her parents house on Providence Street in Dean Park where they were living at the time. After the war she and Max raised 3 sons Max R. Crow Jr, Larry Glen Crow and William Talmadge (Billy) Crow.
During her 96 years in Fort Myers she has been involved in many organizations from Eastern Star to United Methodist Women and made many many friends along the way. She truly loved life and loved people. There has never been anyone she could walk past and not speak with. The best standard phrase for Irene is that “life is a matter of attitude” and she had a positive attitude and lived the life that went with it. Her last day was spent humming and singing “Jesus loves the little children”.
At this time, she has gone on to be with her Lord Jesus Christ and her father, mother, husband, son Larry, grand daughter Cassie and almost every old friend and she will be waiting for the rest of us to join her. In our time. She is survived by Max Jr (Terry), Billy (Lorall), numerous grandchildren great grand children and great great grandchildren.
