James Ardle McMahon, 90, formerly of Sanibel, FL died 2:45 AM, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Indian River Center, Melbourne, FL. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 colonial Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33907. Memorial Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow services. Memorials: Alzheimer’s Foundation James was born April 14, 1924 in Lowell, MA, the son of James F. and Mary (Mack) McMahon. James was a veteran of the United States Army and was awarded the American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and the Purple Heart. He married Maureen E. Ross and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2011. James worked as an attorney most of his life. He was a member of the St. Isabell Catholic Church in Sanibel, FL. Surviving are his three children, James McMahon, Jr. and his wife Carol of Orleans, MA, Mary Cox and her husband Edwin of Milford, NY, Maura Bethon and her husband Richard of Melbourne, FL; five grandchildren Marissa, Anne, Matthew, Laura and James, and five great-grandchildren.
