Joan Helen Grindley's Obituary
Joan Helen Grindley of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully while under hospice care on Monday, January 22, 2018. She was 85 years old.She was born May 30, 1932 in New York, New York, the daughter of Emma (Petescola) and Charles Lowenthal. She lived her younger years in Yonkers, New York and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1950. Joan then graduated from Kathryn Gibbs in New York City. She married Albert E. Grindley on May 22, 1954 and they had four children. She went on to work at ABC and then had a very successful career at Hitachi Metals as a Transportation Manager. Joan retired and relocated to her “Sanctuary On the River” in North Fort Myers, Florida. She was a loving, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt who loved to travel. Joan also participated in many organizations which included her Bridge Club and Continental Women’s Group. One of Joan’s greatest passions was writing and she authored several books.Joan leaves daughters Elyse Scully (Kevin), Alison Laccetti (Anthony), and Beth Herten (fiance Scott) and her son Brett Grindley (Darla). She also leaves behind grandchildren Adrienne Rodeghero (Jonathan), Anthony Laccetti, Jr. (Brittany), Christopher Scully (Amy), Kathleen Scully (fiance Thomas), Russell Herten, Julia Herten, Summer Brandt, Breeana Radke and Garrett Radke and five great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.A memorial service is to be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2057 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, Fl 33901 on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM.
