To the O'Connor Family,
John and I were long-time members of the Irish Heritage Society, and later United Irish of SW Florida. And indeed don't we ourselves descend from the O'Connors from when great grandfather John and great grandmother Nora (O'Connor) arrived in Lawrence with four children in 1895, and when on to have six more.
John was a very nice man. So one of us formerly from the IHS or the UIofSWFL is inserting the significance of our heritage. From the trips he organized, many people embraced their ethnicity, culture, and what it existentially means to be Irish. He provided people the opportunity to absorb who they are.
The Irish do death right. I'm waving the Tri-Color for John Joseph O'Connor, Jr.

in honor of John.

Somewhat selfishly, I can only think there will be no more angels. I loved them.
Then,too, I recall hot dogs and a game with his nephew Bill and family. Don't remember the name of the game nor even how to play it but do remember that Uncle John must win.
And the dances..he loved his meals out with dancing music. And the Celtic festival which we just had. Couldn't help but think of him as many local Irish eyes were smiling.
Rest in peace, Uncle John, and God be with your family and friends as I know you will be too.

I am John O’Connor’s niece. He called me “Joannie Baloney” and taught me how to ride my first two-wheeler bike. I love him and will miss his Irish humor. I know he’s in heaven with all his loved ones. God Bless him
