John Joseph O'Connor Jr.'s Obituary
John J. O'Connor Jr., of Fort Myers, Florida passed away at his residence on Monday, January 29, 2024. He was born in Salem, Massachusetts on March 7, 1934 and was the proud son to Jessie (Crump) and John J. O'Connor Sr. He was 89 years old.
John is survived by his daughter Carrie (Rob) Christensen; granddaughter Kelsey O'Connor; many nieces and nephews, his dear friend and companion Sandra Maloney, friend and nephew Bill Moody.
Sadly, John was preceded in death by his son John O'Connor, father John, mother Jessie, brothers Charles Moody, Richard Moody, Robert Moody, Jim O'Connor, David O'Connor and sisters Madelyn Lebrun, Dot Metz, Lila Renguso, Elinor Page, Ann O'Connor, Mary O'Connor and Jean Lee.
John served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served as the Treasurer of Local 201 of the I.U.E. (AFLCIO) at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts for 27 years. In later years, John planned and organized many trips to Ireland and served as Tour Director for C.I.E Travel. John was a past President of the Irish Northern Aid Society and many other Irish heritage organizations.
John will be laid to rest at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Salem, Massachusetts and will be buried in the family plot. Arrangements and notifications will be made by John's nephew Bill Moody of Cape Coral, Florida and Harmony Grove Cemetery of Salem, Massachusetts.
John was a treasured Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He will be sadly and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
