John L. Thiel III's Obituary
John L. Thiel, III, 51, passed away on January 30, 2026. He was born on May 3, 1974, in Belleville, Illinois, to Patricia “Trish” (Mayfield) Thiel and the late John L. Thiel, Jr.
John moved with his family to Cape Coral, Florida, in 1990, where he soon met his future wife, Jeanna, who at the time was his sister’s closest friend. He also formed a close circle of lifelong friends - relationships built early and sustained throughout his life. Those friendships were a constant source of laughter, loyalty, and shared experiences, including many nights spent together enjoying live music and concerts.
John built a life grounded in simple joys, hard work, and deep devotion to those he loved. He especially enjoyed his long walks after work and on weekends, a routine he kept faithfully. Known for his easy humor and ever-present “dad jokes,” John had a natural way of putting people at ease. He was instantly likable, and his warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Above all else, John loved his family. A devoted husband, a proud father, and a doting grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed, John had a golden heart that will leave behind a legacy of love that will continue to live through those he touched.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jeanna (Mastriano) Thiel; his daughters, Alyssa Thiel of Mulberry, Florida, and Grace Thiel of Fort Myers; his cherished granddaughter, Haddie Thiel; his mother, Trish Thiel; his siblings, Larry Thiel and Terri Thiel, each of Cape Coral; and extended family in Illinois, Wisconsin, and elsewhere. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice: https://hopehcs.org/donate.
A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family.
