Johnny Ray Hathaway's Obituary
Johnny Ray Hathaway of Fort Myers, Florida passed away following a recent illness on Sunday, September 7, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was 73 years old.Johnny Ray was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on July 13, 1941, the proud son of Dorothy Ann (Reuter) and John David Hathaway. Johnny Ray was gifted with the sound of music in his heart and soul. He attended college to study music and received a Bachelor’s Degree in that field of study. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a part of combat operations during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Johnny picked up again with his life’s love of music. He was proficient on the Alto, Tenor and Barritone Saxophone, Keyboard, Steel Drum, Congas and Bongos. Johnny’s musical specialties were Classic Rock & Roll, Island Sounds, Jazz and Blues, Latin and Reggae. Johnny provided “Music for All Occasions” and was a mainstay at many of the local clubs, restaurants and lounges throughout the Fort Myers and Cape Coral area.In addition to the many fans who loved his music, Johnny leaves behind his loving wife Gina Marie (Crusenberry), his children Scott Hathaway, Marisa Hathaway, Jason Hathaway and Andrea Aspiote; his grandchildren Joshua Michael, Jesse Hathaway, Alec, Samantha Aspiote, Kaillee Aspiote, Rylee Hobbic, Dawson Aspiote, Christopher Hathaway, April Hathaway and Landen Mink and his brother Rick Hathaway. Sadly, he was predeceased by his parents.A Memorial Service will be observed at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2014 in the Veteran’s Field of Honor at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555 . A Celebration of his life will be held beginning at 2:00 PM the following day, Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Jim Bob’s, 1431 SE 16th Place, Cape Coral, FL 33990, (239) 574-8100.
