Joseph Michael Durieux's Obituary
Joseph Michael Durieux of North Fort Myers, Florida, better known simply as "Mike" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully and is now with our Lord, after a long battle with cancer at Gulf Coast Medical Center with his loving family by his side on Thursday, May 13, 2021. He was 66 years old.
Mike was born on June 13, 1954 to Catherine & Arthur Durieux in Barberton, Ohio. His father, Arthur Durieux preceded him in death.
Mike is survived by his loving Mother, Catherine Durieux; his loving wife & soulmate of 47 years, Debbie Durieux, his loving daughter, Kristy Collins, loving Mother-in-Law, Beatrice Stanley, brother-in-law Bruce Jones (Lori), numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews, and his dog Zander who adored him, & many friends. He had some long-time special friends, whom he considered his brothers – Norman Fleener (Sallie) & Ian McConkey (Debi).
In lieu of flowers, Mike would have preferred you to make a contribution to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a cancer research foundation of your choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hart, MaryBeth & all of the staff at the Florida Cancer Center, all of the nurses & doctors who saw him at Gulf Coast Medical Center, for the care & compassion they showed for Mike & his family.
A Memorial Service for Mike will be celebrated by Pastor Robert Edge at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 5, 2021 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FLorida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests will be welcome to gather and pay their respects to the family for an hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of this ceremony, guests will be dismissed so that his family may have a final private moment when he is laid to rest at adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery inside the Mausoleum located at the Garden of Peace.
