Derek, your Grandpa was so very proud of you for not just what you have accomplished in life that may be tangible, but for what is less tangible, your character…the wonderful young man that you have become today! I remember the first time I met my soon to be father-in-law. He made me feel so welcome in his family's home. I was lucky to marry his son who learned many of his father's wonderful traits. Grandpa Joe will be dearly missed. It is rare to find a person so honest, true to his word, and kind-hearted. He was an avid thinker and skilled craftsman. Joe will remain a true pillar of the community, and an infinitely faithful family man. We can all learn from him and try to emulate what he did to become better human beings. Love, His grandson Derek
I remember the first time I met Joe and Dorothy at the Slabosz' home in Cape Coral, in 1991. I was new to the area and my new friend, Janet had invited me over for dinner. Since that time I've had the privilige of being part of many Slabosz-Griggs' celebrations and have always been warmly welcomed. Joe, always thoughtful and kind, never missed an opportunity to ask me about my husband and family and always listened with interest.
