June Elizabeth Holland's Obituary
June Elizabeth Holland was born in Easton, MA to Kenneth and Bertha May Mitchell, and she enjoyed many childhood summers on Onset Island. She later married and moved to Warsaw, IN to start a family. All three of her children were born in Indiana and eventually , in 1969, they all moved to sunny Sanibel, FL. In 1976, they picked up and moved again to Fort Myers, FL. June enjoyed her summers for many years on Big Bald Mountain in North Carolina. She passed away peacefully in the care of Hope Hospice of Fort Myers on March 29, 2017 at age 91. June was the owner/operator of “The Last Straw” store on Sanibel Island and several American Greeting Card stores throughout the area. June gave of her time and talents by serving as a volunteer at the Fort Myers Community Hospital and the American Lung Association Of Fort Myers. She was a member of the Women’s Community Club and the Landings Ladies Golf Association. She was formerly active in scouting and served as a volunteer at Lee County Schools and the Citizen’s Advisory Boards of Lee County Schools. She was also a member of St. Michaels Episcopal Church of Sanibel & St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Fort Myers. June is survived by her three children, Robert Mitchell Holland (Lisa), Pamela Holland and Elizabeth Holland Goerke (Kurt). She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Austin, Kyle, Emily, Natalie, Mitchell and Nicholas and one great granddaughter, Audrina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Lung Association Fight for Air Stair Climb in Fort Myers at http://action.lung.org/site/TR?fr_id=15421&pg=entry The funeral service begins at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, April 15 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907).
