Kenneth Jack Becker's Obituary
Kenneth Jack Becker, 91, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully, on June 13, 2025.
Born in Dorset, Ohio on January 19, 1934, Ken grew up on the family farm and graduated from Dorset High School in 1952 before marrying Darlene Moore in 1954. He was drafted into the United States Army Signal Squad in 1956. He used his Army training to build a career in the telephone industry. He provided expertise and direction in major upgrades to the local and long-distance calling system throughout SW Florida. Ken also led the initial implementation of 911 in SW Florida. He retired in 1993.
Ken and Darlene traveled in their early retirement and enjoyed summering in Blairsville, GA. Ken was an avid Purple Martin advocate, housing 60+ mating pairs every Spring.
Ken loved the beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel Island, spending time there each year. He instilled in his family a love of nature and encouraged those around him to stop and look at the world around us. "The world is a pretty interesting place if you just stop and take the time to look."
Ken will be remembered for the music he loved. He was a fan of bluegrass and often went to see local bands in Fort Myers and in Blairsville.
