Kenneth Marvin Issel's Obituary
Kenneth Marvin Issel, 97, of North Fort Myers, passed away July 25, 2019 following a brief illness. He was born October 28, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA to Carl William and Cora Fredrica (Pahre) Issel. He retired from the U.S. Navy following 20 years of loyal service, where is was an Air Traffic Control Chief. He served in Japan, North Africa, Texas, Philadelphia, PA and Europe. On April 22, 1946, he married his beloved “bug”, Marion Kostige. They were married for 70 years until her death in 2016.Following his retirement in the Navy, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from West Chester State in 1964 and his Master’s Degree in 1967. He taught 6th grade at Abington, PA where he lived for 20 years. He and his wife moved to North Fort Myers in 1983 and he resided there until his death. Ken was an avid tennis player all his life and golfed while in Florida, including 3 holes in one. Ken will be fondly remembered for hosting daily driveway happy hours for all his friends in the “Glen”.There will be no local services. Mr. Issel will be transferred to Arlington National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Marion at which time he will receive full military honors conducted by the United States Navy.Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
