Laurene Aker Kernahan, 70, of N Fort Myers, went to be with her Lord on February 13, 2026.
Laurie was born June 14,1955 to Henry and Thora (Uebel) Aker, in Cleveland, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband Kevin Thomas Kernahan of 17 years; three sisters, Carolyn (Frank) Sqrow of Atlanta, GA, Nancy (Thomas) Chaplin of Hilliard, OH, Margaret (Randy) Hammond of Brooklyn, OH; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick Kernahan (deceased), Diane Cook of Silver Lake, MI, Katheryn (Keith) Lavrar of Bowling Green, OH and Michael (Monika) Kernahan of Perrysburg, OH. She was a loving aunt to many nephews and nieces, and a cherished cousin as well.
Laurie graduated from Fairview High School in 1973. She attended Kent State University. She moved to Michigan and worked for Carrol Products for two decades in sales. Retiring at age 47, she made her dream move to Fort Myers Beach. After her marriage to Kevin, they moved to North Fort Myers (Herons Glen).
She cherished her family and many friends. She was an avid sports fan enjoying the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and professional golf. Laurie loved playing golf, corn hole, bocci ball and most recently pickle ball.
Laurie enjoyed having her birthday on “Flag Day” and was well known for her red, white and blue wardrobe. We encourage those colors to be worn at her memorials if you choose.
Two memorial services are planned:
April 25, 11:00 am at Elks Lodge, 139 W. Wayne St., Maumee, OH. 43537, ph: 419-893-7272, https://elk1850.com.
May 30, 11:00 am at Herons Glen Butterfly Garden, 2250 Herons Glen Blvd. North Fort Myers, FL 33917. The security guard will provide directions at the gate under Kernahan’s Memorial at Butterfly Garden, parking at Club House, golf cart rides will be provided.
