I want to pass along our family's condolences on the passing of Marita. She was my sister Wendy's teacher at Verplank School back in the fifties. My parents, Bob and Connie, both 90, became close friends with Marita and i recall many dinners with her at our home on Adams Street and Olcott Drive. I remember going to Kemp Furniture Store on Main Street, Manchester because they also sold records and was often advised by Marita to leave the store and not buy too many. Over the years my folks had lost contact with Marita after she moved south, but we all remember our times together fondly. May she rest in peace.

I was a student at Verplank in the late 50's and remember Miss Kemp like it was yesterday. She was one of the teachers everyone wanted to have. She helped make many students lives better and I trust they did the same for her.

I'm sorry to learn of Miss Kemp's passing. I was a student at Verplanck elementary school during the late 1960s and early 1970s when Miss Kemp was a 4th grade teacher. She did not seem to be a happy person then; nor did her colleague and friend – noted in her obituary – Mrs. Moore. It seems that her later years and her second career brought out another, more positive and kinder, side to her, for which I am grateful. My condolences to those who were intimate with her.

Was sadden to hear of Ms. Kemp's passing. She was my third grade teacher from 1959 – 1960 at Verplank school. Her friend Mrs. Moore was my 5th grade teacher. I have very fond memories of her and can see her walking across the auditorium at Verplank….very pretty. May she rest in peace. My condolonces to her family and friends. Kathleen Shepard Stimson

I am saddened to learn of Miss Kemp's passing. She was my third grade teacher at Verplanck School in 1960. I was very shy and soft spoken and she took a special interest in me,encouraging me and helping me to feel more comfortable with speaking in class and as a young girl. I have thought of her often since that year and hope that she is at peace. My sincere condolences to you her family.
