Martha Ridenour Munkholm Pousha passed away on March 25, 2011, after a brief illness, in Fort Myers, FL where she was spending the winter.?á Martha is survived by her 2 daughters, Christiane and Catherine, and by her grandsons, Eli, Paul, William, Kenneth and Edwin.?á She is also survived by her sisters, Suzanne and Billie, and by numerous nieces and nephews. A sister, Jeanette preceded her in death. With?á her first husband, the late Paul Munkholm, she raised their children, Christiane and Catherine in Grosse Point, MI.?á With her second, the late Floyd Pousha, she joined the Airstream RV circuit, and lived all over the United States, and with her third husband, the late William Ciosek, she settled in Massachusetts and Florida. Martha was born on February 23, 1920, and grew up in Liberty, Indiana.?á After high school she completed a secretarial course at Miami-Jacobs Business School in Dayton, Ohio.?á Martha worked as a bookkeeper at the accounting firm of Arthur Anderson LLP in Detroit, Michigan, until leaving to raise a family.?á She later rejoined the work force, eventually becoming office manager for a large law firm in Detroit. Martha had a lifelong commitment to health and exercise.?á For many years she was active in the American Volkssport Association, sponsor of certifird 10 K walks throughout the nation.?á In 2002 at the age of 82, Martha earned the distinction of having completed an official 10K Volksmarch walk in all 50 states. Martha loved music and dancing, and was always happy on the dance floor, especially when her grandsons?ÇÖ band was playing.?á She was a competitive card player, and was still playing bridge up until the time of her illness.?á She was a champion for all animals especially for any dogs who were lucky enough to come into her life. Martha was unswervingly devoted to her daughters and grandsons, while at the same time offering the model of a courageous and independent life.?á She will be missed.
