Mary Jane Conroy's Obituary
Mary Jane Conroy (Jane), 74, of North Fort Myers, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021, with her family by her side. Jane was a beloved Wife, Mom, Nana, Auntie, and Friend.
Jane was born to the late Lorraine and William Sullivan on January 5, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts. She is survived by her husband, Patrick; her son, Sean; her daughter, Laurie; her two grandsons, Brian and Michael; her two step-granddaughters, Kendall and Kaylee; her sister, Patricia; her brother, John; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jane and Patrick were married on August 14, 1966. Throughout their marriage, they loved, they fought, they laughed, and they cried. They endured the heartbreak of losing a child, frequent separations due to deployment, and raising two kids far away from the support of their families. But no matter how tough things were, they always took care of each other. As their favorite song goes, “Cause I love, love you so, promise I’ll never let you go, in the still of the night…” (‘In the Still of the Night’ by The Five Satins)
Patrick’s career in the Air Force eventually brought them to Hawaii, which Jane loved almost as much as she loved Boston. But after being away from family for so long, when she retired from her 34-year career as a Civilian Personnel Officer for the Air Force, she moved to North Fort Myers to live near her brothers and sisters.
Jane loved her kids more than life itself, but when the grandbabies were born, they stole her heart. Nothing beat being Nana to Brian and Michael, and she spoiled them rotten. Jane loved all of her nieces and nephews, her grand nieces and nephews, and her great-grand nieces and nephews immensely. She could easily forget where she put her glasses or car keys, but she always remembered everyone’s story.
Jane loved spending time with friends and family and was always the life of the party. Her camera reel is filled with good times and great people that loved and cherished her. She has left us all with the most incredible memories of love, laughter, and amazing adventures of all kinds.
Jane’s passing has been a tremendous shock to all of us, and our souls are torn apart knowing that she is no longer with us. God had a plan for her, one that we may not understand, but we do know that after 49 years of waiting, Jane is finally getting to hold her sweet baby boy Brian again.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Father Thomas Heck officiating.
