Mary "Kitty" Soden Baumgartner's Obituary
Mary Catherine Soden Baumgartner, affectionately known as “Kitty,” passed away at the age of 66 on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in Fort Myers, FL, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Kitty was born on July 31, 1958, in Alexandria, LA, to the late Jack and Constance (nee Donnelly) Soden. She was an avid tennis player for many years, finding joy and camaraderie on and off the court with friends. The beach was one of her favorite places, where she enjoyed spending time with loved ones. Her greatest love was cooking and entertaining family and friends, creating countless cherished memories around the dinner table. She was known for her incredible warmth, sense of style, and hospitality.
Kitty is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ed Baumgartner; two daughters, Catherine “Kat” Baumgartner of Pembroke Pines, FL and Caroline Baumgartner and her fiancé, Evan Skaggs of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Ann Cross and her partner, David of Alexandria, LA and Elizabeth Alvarez of Dallas, TX; Three nieces, Connie, Sarah and Amanda; two nephews, Christopher and Nicholas; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Kitty’s life will be celebrated, 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 28, 2024 in the Garden of Sylvan Terrace in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family invites friends for a time of visitation from 10:30 AM until the service time. The family requests that those in attendance do not wear dark colors, as she would have wanted to see everyone in their best and brightest.
Kitty’s warmth, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
