Mary Louise McDonnell's Obituary
Mary Louise McDonnell of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 following some recent health challenges. She was 83 years old.Mary was born on December 26, 1933 in Lancaster, Ohio, the beautiful daughter to Nora (Brassure) and Harold Short.. She moved to Fort Myers in March, 1960 and quickly began to enjoy her new home by becoming active in the community. Mary was an outgoing and friendly person who greatly enjoyed the company of others. Throughout the years she maintained a very close circle of friends and was proud that her family and those of her friends became part of an extended circle of friendship. She loved children and treasured spending time with them whenever she could. She worked for many years at the TG&Y Store on College Parkway in Fort Myers until her retirement in the early 1990’s. Mary also loved to travel whenever possible and was an active parishioner at Saint Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Fort Myers for many years.Mary leaves to cherish her loving memory her son Mike McDonnell and daughter-in-law Kathy; her grandsons Michael and Ryan McDonnell; her great-granddaughter Leah McDonnell; brother Donald Short (Mary Lou) and sisters Arlene Timonere (Don), Noreen Solt (Dan) and Angie Short. She also leaves behind a number of extended family members and a great many other people who were proud to have met Mary along life’s journey. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene McDonnell who died on October 11, 1993.A Memorial Service for Mary will be celebrated by Deacon Anthony F.
