I met Matt several years ago at an astronomy event in Cape Coral. Matt was not only interested in many aspects of astronomy including solar observing, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and helped out at several events of the Southwest Florida Astronomy Association. I am glad Matt was my friend, even if for only a few years. He will be missed and remembered.

Matt, we miss you so much. It still does not seem real. We know you're safe, but hope you know how loved you were on earth too. Matt was a very loyal, loving son with a love of Jesus and astronomy. He fought a long health battle, but on Feb. 23 rd, 2026, he took his last breath here on earth. As we wait to be together again, we will miss him every day. Knowing he is out of pain will get us through somehow. Love, mom and Dad
