I never met Max, but was fortunate enough to feel the family connection as my parents, Robert and Renee Busch, let me know of their visits with Max, and his help with Lilliane.
Dear Susan It is with great sadness that we now know that Max is no longer with us in life. But he will live on with us in our memories. We first met Max through our connection with Cousin Lillian. Although we had Lillian over to our house, in Fair Lawn, NJ, on two or three occasions, it was through Max that we were able to establish and have an opportnity to visit her in those last years of her life. It was a result of this mutual connection that we were able to get to know Max. I (Bob)learned more about my own family from Max when he described his early years when he and his family lived in the same building in,Antwerp, that my father's family lived in. Max assisted Lillian and her sister Georgette in her own confinement. This was obviously a committment of his to enable them to live in comfort and with dignity. In talking about both our families it was noted that Lillian and Georgette were both cousins of ours. Max gave us a copy of the memoirs that his mother had written prior to her death. In it she mentions her Uncle Willy Lowy who coincidentally was my Uncle too. He was married to my Aunt Rosa (Busch.) Although we were not actually cousins, that's about as close you could come to being so. We wish we had been able to know Max earlier, and you Susan, but we will never forget his zest for life and how he was determined to get the most out of life during these past two years. Renee and I offer our condolences to you and your family in your loss.
Sincere condolences to Max's family from a distant relative. My parents, Bob and Renee Busch were very fond of Max. My connection was through Lillianne who I member as a loving, beautiful woman. I am sorry for your loss and the harship of going through the anguish of cancer with a loved one.
Dear Sue: We were so surprised and unhappy to hear about Max. It seems like only yesterday I was trying to figure out how to keep from slaughtering Mary Jean Reilley when Max had both of us on the Library segment of his show! He certainly did a good job on that program. We have another Wisconsin PBS program that is somewhat like his–but she hasn't the personality–his smile was so quick and his manner so easy that he had an excellent raport with the audience. Dave and I are living in an apartment in Middleton (with three meals a day and housekeeping furnished!) I am still, after four and a half years, finding things I have no idea why I saved: How in the world did you cope with moving to so many places? With sympathy and fond memories–
