Michael Edwin Hartung's Obituary
Michael Edwin Hartung of Alva, Florida, better known simply as Mike to his family and friends, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, August 26, 2023 while under Hospice care for some recent medical challenges. He was 80 years old.
Mike was born in Linnsburg, Indiana on May 4, 1943, the proud son to Hazel (French) and Howard Hartung. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and spent the majority of his working life in the Insurance field where he specialized in Worker's Compensation administration and compliance. Mike was a devoted NASCAR fan and loved Jeff Gordon. He loved taking his family out to dinner to enjoy lots of laughs, margaritas, steak, and vanilla shakes.
Mike was the beloved husband to, and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Betty (Richter) Hartung. He is survived by his children, Sharmon, Shawn, and Darryl as well as his brothers Steve and Bob. His memory is forever cherished by his 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
A Memorial Service for Mike will be celebrated by Pastor Graham A. Stein on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907. At the request of the family, these services are private. Floral tributes for Mike are welcome and will be gratefully accepted by the family.
