Michael J. Schlayer's Obituary
Michael J. Schlayer, 63, of Bonita Springs, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 following illness. Born December 19, 1959.
Michael is survived by his extended, loving family. His wife of many happy years, Peggy J Schlayer, his sons Dustin Schlayer (who became his primary care giver, advocate and support along with Peggy) and fiance Sam, Dustin's children, granddaughter Virginia, her boyfriend Jacob, grandsons Maddox and Everett. His younger son Mitchel and his girlfriend Makayla, his mother in law Patricia Pillsbury all of whom lived with him in happiness, love and joy in the family homestead. He is also survived by his sister Cathy, husband Ken, their children, nephews Ken, Kevin ( pre-deceased), Brian and family, Sean, niece Meghan and her family, sister in law Barbara and Nephews Steven and Rob, sister in laws Ann, Mick and niece Erica and family, Nancy ( pre-deceased) Susan, Barry and nephew Shane and family. Brother in law Peter, niece Loghen and her family, nephew Alex and many, many more loved ones and friends. His children's friends became his friends also. Michael always took great care of his family who loved and respected his wisdom, humor, personality and great capacity of love and forgiveness. He was predeceased in death by his parents Lillian and Robert and father in law Everett , sister in law Nancy, nephew Kevin who we are sure met and welcomed him to heaven.
Michael was a merchant marine, a coast guardsman ( rescue swimmer)
and had his own business, Commercial Computer Services in Portsmouth NH.
Moving to Florida in the early 2003. He became a patient of Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and they helped him survive multiple cancers for almost 20 years. Michael will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Michael did not believe in funerals. Michael believed in love.
