Myra L. Waldee's Obituary
Myra Louise Waldee (Smith), 95, of Fort Myers, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 22, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born June 6, 1930, in Fort Meade, Florida, Myra was the daughter of the late Bethel and Lora Smith (Futch). She grew up locally as a farmer’s daughter, an upbringing that instilled in her a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for community. An excellent student, she graduated as Salutatorian of her high school class.
Myra married the love of her life, Ernest Nelson Waldee, in 1950. Together they made their home in Fort Myers and shared 53 devoted years of marriage together until his passing in 2003.
She was blessed with two daughters, Donna, born in 1957, and Cherise, born in 1965. Myra placed her family at the center of her life. She cherished every aspect of family, finding joy in caring for and supporting those she loved.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Myra was deeply involved in her church throughout her life. She was a founding member of Broadway Community Church and served faithfully in many roles, including Music Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Ladies Ministries Director. She also loved organizing events for others and generously lent her talents to help coordinate weddings and special occasions, always ensuring every detail was done with care.
Myra had the gift of hospitality. She was an excellent cook. The meals she prepared were one of the many ways she showed love for her family, friends and church.
She will be remembered for her warmth, servant’s heart, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family, church, and community. Her legacy of love and service will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
Myra is survived by her treasured daughters Donna Smith (husband Chuck) of FL, and Cherise Trent (husband Michael) of FL. Grandmother to Brent, Brad, Kody (wife Abbey), and Kelsey (husband Andrei).
