Nicholas Alexiou's Obituary
Nicholas “Nick” Alexiou, 85, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2026. He was born on April 14, 1940, in Kehries Evoia, Greece, to the late Demetrios and Zaharou (Markos) Alexiou.
Nick immigrated to the United States from Greece after many years of sailing the world, he built a life rooted in hard work, resilience, and devotion to his family. He first settled in Connecticut, where he lived and worked as a master welder in manufacturing for 30 years before retiring to Georgia in 1998. In May of 2013, he and his wife made their home in Lehigh Acres, Florida, where he enjoyed his later years surrounded by loved ones while traveling to Greece, cruises and the surrounding areas in the warm Florida sunshine.
A proud member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Nick carried his Greek heritage and faith close to his heart throughout his life.
Nick is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Varvara “Barbara” (Zantouliadis) Alexiou; his sons, Demetrios “Jim” Alexiou and his wife Denice of Vero Beach, FL, and George Alexiou and his wife Jennifer of Indian Trail, NC; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Alexiou and Nicholas Alexiou.
He was predeceased by his brother, John Alexiou, and his sisters, Eleni Zaharia and Kalomoira Papastamou.
All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
