Philip A. Scribner's Obituary
Philip A. Scribner, of Bonita Springs, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on December 12, 1943, Philip spent his childhood growing up in various locations throughout New York. He graduated from Syosset High School in 1962 and attended the Steamfitters Local 638 Apprentice Program graduating in1968.
He married Mary Ann Miliano in 1967. They had 2 children, Mark and Craig, and resided in Lake Grove, New York.
Philip proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his military service, he was honorably discharged and received numerous commendations including the Bronze Service Star with Valor, a Purple Heart and several other service medals in recognition of his courage and dedication.
Following his military service, Philip worked for 40 years with Steamfitters Local 638, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. He was very proud of being a 3rd generation Steamfitter. After retiring in Florida, he enjoyed his work as a limousine driver.
Philip was a happy man, who embraced life fully. He had a deep love for his family, treasured time spent at home and truly enjoyed
retirement. He was especially passionate about cars, particularly Corvettes, loved music and dancing and enjoyed travelling on cruises with Janet. His warmth, humor, and love of life touched everyone who knew him. Philip will be remembered for his loyalty, strength, generous spirit, and the joy he brought to family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. That spirit earned him the nickname of St. Phil.
Philip married the love of his life, best friend and unwavering supporter, Janet Matzur in 2009. In addition to his wife Janet, he is also survived by a son, Mark Scribner, a son Craig and Linda (Ribaudo) Scribner, loving granddaughter Sophia, his sister Dr. Jacqueline (Scribner) and Dr. William Morice, a brother David and Sandra (Byrd) Scribner, stepdaughter Jody and Thomas Coari, stepson Jason Matzur, a niece Andrea (Scribner) and Ashim Kahn, a niece Nicole (Scribner) and Spencer Barlow , a niece Jill (Morice) and Scott Sorn, a nephew Dr. William Morice Jr., and Elizabeth Morice and many great-nieces and nephews.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Helene (Dumas) Scribner, a wife Mary Ann Scribner and a wife Barbara Scribner.
