Richard J. Enzenauer's Obituary
Richard Joseph Enzenauer, 81 of Cape Coral, FL passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025.
He is survived by his spouse, Chris Schimmel
Richard was the youngest son of Joseph Enzenauer and Sadie (Oberkfell) Enzenauer. He outlived his three older siblings: Anna (Enzenauer) Maly, Sharon Enzenauer and Robert (Bobby) Enzenauer.
Richard graduated from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School in Missouri. He went on to college and graduated from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. Rich taught sixth grade for several years after finishing college. He went on to several sales positions. He opened his own business, Store Fixtures and Display, designing and selling store display products.
After retiring, Rich moved to Florida, where he had a vacation home, with his husband, Chris Schimmel. Rich and Chris, later bought a bar in Cape Coral, Cruisers. Rich enjoyed being with the friends that he made at the bar, even hosting holiday meals. This wasn’t new to Rich since he had hosted the annual Thanksgiving feast for family and friends while living in St Louis.
Richard always had something entertaining to say, sometimes bawdy. You couldn’t help but laugh along with him. He was sweet, charming and caring. He loved living in the warm weather of Florida with Chris and Connie, Richard’s mother in law, and their pets. Rich will be missed by all of us who loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
Arrangements are being handled by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
