Richard Joseph Karchunas' Obituary
Richard J. Karchunas, 69, of Fort Myers passed away peacefully at Health Park Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida, surrounded by his family.He was born on July 23, 1945, in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Joseph and Alice (Hill)Karchunas. On March 12, 1966, he married the love of his life, Nancy A (Harris) Karchunas who resides in Fort Myers. He is also survived by his adored children, Scott, and his wife Lisa Karchunas of Saint Louis, MO; his daughter Susan Smith (Karchunas); his grandchildren: Sarah, Marshall, Avery and Brynn; his brother Joe (Sue) Karchunas and sister Michelle Krauchunas. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, John Karchunas.Rich graduated from Western Michigan with an MBA and went on to successfully work as an executive for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years. He enjoyed golfing, Notre Dame and Packer Football. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his beloved grandchildren, of whom he was so proud. His intelligence, conviction, humor, charismatic and vivacious personality drew people to him. He was loyal to all he loved and was an amazing husband, dad, son and friend. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and his wisdom will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.A mass will be held Saturday, January 31st, 2015 at 10 am at Blessed Pope John XXIII on Palomino Road in Fort Myers.Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Rich’s memory are asked to do so, in lieu of sending flowers, to AAUW Fort Myers/Lee Co.
