Robert G Hagan's Obituary
Robert G. Hagan ("Bob"), of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in New York City to Joseph and Elizabeth Hagan, Bob’s life was marked by dedication—to his family, his country, his work, and his community.
He was a proud graduate of Rice High School in New York and went on to serve honorably in the United States Army as part of the 1st Armored Division. After his military service, Bob discovered his passion for construction and built a distinguished career as a commercial builder. He spent 25 years at Robbins & Cowan, a commercial contracting firm in Huntington, NY, where he served as President and left a lasting legacy through his leadership and integrity.
An avid golfer, Bob cherished his time on the course until his diagnosis with kidney disease in 2006. One of his greatest sources of joy during his years on Long Island was his involvement with the Northport-Centerport Lions Club. A dedicated member for over 20 years and a past President, Bob deeply valued the camaraderie, service, and lifelong friendships he found there.
After years of being snowbirds, Bob and his wife Carol moved to Southwest Florida in 2004, where he quickly became an active and beloved member of the Cascades community. He participated in both the Men’s Club and the Mariners Club. After moving to Country Creek, he found daily joy in the neighborhood men's coffee group, sharing laughter, stories, and friendship over morning coffee.
Bob will be remembered most for his infectious smile, warm personality, and clever sense of humor. He had a unique gift for making others feel seen and valued, and once you met him, you never forgot him. Even in the face of illness, Bob faced each day with courage, grace, and a deep commitment to spending meaningful time with those he loved most.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Carol, and his children: Patricia Van Loon, Robert Hagan, Jr., Maureen Hagan, and Matthew Hagan, as well as his stepdaughters, Kimberly Reers and Cindy Vargas. Bob is also lovingly remembered by his sons-in-law Mark Van Loon, Douty Bamba Mamadou and Joseph Vargas, along with his daughter-in-law Meegan Hagan. He was adored by his eleven grandchildren—Elizabeth Van Loon, Vagnon Bamba, Michael Van Loon, Tyler Reers, Dillon Reers, Mafety Bamba, Vincent Vargas, Alpha Bamba, Anthony Vargas, Rylee Hagan, and Rorie Hagan—each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Hagan.
A viewing will be held on June 5th at Commack Abbey in Commack, NY from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, followed by a military burial at Calverton National Cemetery on June 6th.
Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
