Sharon was one of the most genuine people I have ever known. She was a remarkable human being. Her death is a tremendous loss to all who had the privilege of knowing her. God called a beautiful human being home, but her light will continue to burn bright in the hearts of all she left behind. Her family remain in my thoughts and prayers.
To the family, I pray God’s peace and strength for you during this difficult time. I thank God for the opportunity I had to get to know and learn from Sharon. She’s a master at her craft, patient, kind, and uplifting. Sharon was never too busy to lend a listening ear and always offered words of encouragement, carrying such grace and wisdom along the way.
Yes, I will miss her joyful spirit and all that she embodied, but I also take comfort in knowing she is home now. Thank you, Sharon, for all that you’ve imparted to those of us that had the honor of working with you!
May Gods gace and comfort keep you all th rough this time off loss and sorrow.

At work Sharon would sometimes call out over our shared "cubbie" wall, "Hey, Patti, got a sec.?" I knew what she wanted and would walk over to review an email, a response to a colleague, a draft for a training, or a critique of a follow-up submission from a course participant. I might offer a word change or two (rare), or a phrase to help convey intent (really not needed), or an affirmation of what she had written.
That was Sharon - always wanting to choose the right words to impart a well-thought message to others. She was a lover of learning, passionate about literacy, and committed to sharing her knowledge of language learning, the process and acquisition of reading, and effective instructional practices with colleagues. She rarely stopped thinking about how to teach it better, how to motivate more, or how to engage learners for optimal outcomes. She was a superb diagnostician, a masterful teacher leader, and a life-long student continually stretching and adding to her own knowledge and skills. Moreover, she was fun to be around, fun to listen to, and, moreover, a great coffee drinking partner!
Sharon listened with kindness, spoke with thoughtfulness, acted with consideration. She was simply an extraordinary professional, a beautiful person, a good friend, and an inspiration.
