Shelly Rochelle Melchiorre's Obituary
Shelly Rochelle Melchiorre of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2020 while receiving treatment for a chronic illness. She was 80 years old.
Shelly was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 6, 1939, the proud child to Anna (Leifer) and Sam Lessin and late brother Melvin (Elaine). She was married to the love of her life for almost 62 years, her husband Santo Giovanni "Johnny" Melchiorre. Shelly was also the biggest fan of her children Mark (Vikki) and Dawn (Chuck), grandchildren Giovanni (Chelsea), Jesse, Anthony, and Samantha (Austin), and great-grandchildren Giovanni Jr. and Sonny Angelo.
Shelly’s smile and personality lit up a room and boy did she know how to throw a party – she was the ultimate host. She has been called a second-mother and best friend to so many. She was always there to lean on for advice or fun conversation like planning a menu for a gathering or choosing excursions on a cruise!
She enjoyed playing bridge with Johnny and the girls, the movies, traveling the world with her amazing friends, and a night out with dinner and a show. Back in New York Shelly and Johnny went boating every weekend with family and friends. Shelly would laugh and play Rummy-O for hours.
Shelly’s most favorite place was anywhere with her family. Whether it was a typical family gathering, which always included the family mentioned above and all their in-laws, or a simple dinner around their kitchen table this was when she was the happiest. A little food, her favorite martini, and lots of laughs creating memories for a lifetime.
A celebration of Shelly’s life will be held at Cross Creek Estates Clubhouse. As we want all of Shelly’s family and friends to be safe the date is yet to be determined. Immediate arrangements for Shelly's final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
