Shirley J. Sword's Obituary
Shirley J. Sword, 92, of Cape Coral, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021. She was born June 14, 1928 in Tarentum, PA to Joseph and Helen (George) Cook. She retired in 1983 from the National Bank of Detroit and moved to Florida shortly thereafter. She was a member and very active in the Daughters of the Nile and crocheted many blankets for children for the Shriners Hospital. She was a member of the Providence Christian Church in Cape Coral.
Mrs. Sword is survived by her children: Donald Sword (Virginia) of Grass Lake, MI, Gary Sword (Jan) of Cape Coral, with whom she lived for the past 4 months and Craig Sword (Renee) of Southgate, MI; her grandchildren: Joselyn, Donald and Andrew and 3 great grandchildren, as well as her brother, Joseph Cook (Greta of Cape Coral. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Sword in 2011.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens where a memorial rites will be conducted by the Daughters of the Nile followed by the funeral service. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
