So sad to hear about Steve Tepper. He was "gunny" Tepper to me when I was CO of H&S Company,then AlphaCompany 2d RAG BAG FMFLANT from 1977-1979. Always the gentleman and always the expert when it came to helping out this newly minted 2602 woman Marine Captain. It was a new beginning for Radio Battalion to have a women at Camp Geiger (I think there was a woman Marine who was out in the Motor Pool then). We stayed in touch over the years but alas, lost that touch the last few years. I like all the other people who were touched by him, will miss him. SEMPER FIKaren Laino

Bill—we, in Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico 1965-1967, did not know that story about Steve honoring JFK like that. That is awesome and shows even more what kind of an individual Steve was. Thanks for sharing that, fellow MCCA member. Much appreciated.

Steve was one of our favorite and most trustworthy friends. Steve babysat our three children while stationed at Fort Meade, MD. Our kids loved him and always wanted to know if we were going somewhere so Steve could come over and play. We could always go out secure in the knowledge that he had it all under control. One of our favorite memories was when Steve went to DC while President Kennedy was lying in state in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building. He arrived back at our house after several hours almost frozen. He had gone in dress blues and stood in the cold for hours to honor the President. We will miss him tremendously. Steve was not just a regular guy. He was a very special person, outgoing, caring, sense of humor, all around genuine person. As I said before, I was in Puerto Rico when Steve arrived there. He was immediately liked by all. He lived in the barracks for awhile with us. His Triumph cycle was something else (another story entirely)—but he was a great guy. We fellow Marine veterans can only imagine your loss, Dawn.

Me acuerdo cuando llego a casa contigo a pedirle la mano a papi para luego unirse en matrimonio. Recuerdo que siempre se sentia super orgulloso de ser Marines. Tenemos fotos cuando venian a Puerto Rico con los nenes chiquitos y le gustaba tanto la cancion jibara "Con tanto tormeto, con tanto tormento, los que yo he pasado" Creo que el compro el LP aca en Puerto Rico. I'm sorry I haven't seen everyone in such a long time. Mr. Tepper left such a lasting impression on me at such a young age I will never forget him. I'm sorry he had to go. God Bless You.

I never met Steve in person, but we were involved with a group that sent support to a village in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He proved himself to be an honorable man by his military service, and a giving and caring man by his charitable deeds. Comfort and peace to his family.
