Werner Frederick Rebstock, "Reb"'s Obituary
Werner Frederick Rebstock of Fort Myers, Florida, more widely known as “Reb” to family and friends, passed away peacefully at Health Park Medical Center with his loving family by his side on Thursday, May 9, 2019 following some recent health challenges. He was 87 years old.Reb was born on July 14, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the proud son of Bertha (Feinauer) and William F. Rebstock. He joined the United States Marine Corps and decided to make military service his career. As a Marine, he was promoted several times during his tenure before retiring at the rank of Colonel following more than 31 years of honorable service. He never forgot those he served with and continued to support issues important to active duty personnel and veterans. Reb was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Military Officers Association of America, Marine Corps Association, Marine Corps Aviation Association, National Rifle Association and the Masons.Reb leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Margaret “Peggy” (Era) Rebstock and his sons Eric S. Rebstock and Kyle W. Rebstock. He also leaves behind a number of extended family members, many friends and the entire brotherhood of fellow Marines, “Ooh-Rah!”A Visitation for Reb will be held from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, May 20, 2019 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Immediately following visitation at 11:00 AM, a Funeral Service will be officiated by Reverend Dennis Lewis from Faith United Methodist Church.A Celebration of Life for Reb will also be held later that same day at 4:00 PM inside Edison Hall at Cypress Cove Retirement Living, 10200 Cypress Cove Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33908, (239) 324-0985.
