I first met Bill in 2001 at the Gulf Harbour Yacht and Country Club Fitness Center, where my wife, Nunna, and I had recently re-located from Annapolis, MD. As I was using 25 lb weights, I was rather taken aback to see he was using 55 lb weights–I was very impressed. We hit it off immediately, him being Naval Academy Class of 1946, and I being Class of 1966. I also found out that he was a stalwart on the tennis courts, and was nicknamed "Admiral." Our friendship grew and in recent years we became even closer. Nunna and I attended his 93rd birthday party and a grand event it was, We got to meet most of his relatives, and Bill stood up and sang multiple verses of an old Navy song. We were all amazed by his perfect memory of every word. In 2015 I was able to have dinner with grandson John in Honolulu. It is truly fitting for Carlyn and Bill's ashes to be at rest in the Naval Academy Columbarium, which faces College Creek on the Academy grounds. Nunna and I plan to also be inurned there. He is sorely missed by all that knew him. Clayton Spikes, December 1, 2016Clayton Spikes, Annapolis, MD and Ft. Myers, FL
