I was once Daddy's little girl & then became his rebellious teenager. I grew up & had my girls & Dad became a Grandparent & then he became Great Grandparent. I learned to appreciate Dad more & more as each day & each year passed. Dad taught me so many things & helped me so much. He helped me move, gave me advice about things… from how to repair something to how to take care of my lawn. Dad was exceptionally knowledgeable in so many areas! I often said, "I wish I could follow Dad around & learn the things he knew". That would have taken me a life time! There are times I did not agree with Dad, but that is the way things were. I knew he did not always agree with me either. Dad had his boiling point & when he reached it…we all knew it! I would often ask Dad for his opinion on something. I always took his opinion in to consideration when making my decision. I valued Dad's words & often his lack of words too. Dad did work a lot, but as a kid we did so many different things from ice skating on the creek (behind the house) & vacations to swimming in our pool in May (boy was that cold). Dad would write our first swim of the year on the garage wall. Speaking of the garage…I loved the garage door Dad made…go up & down using elevator parts! Dad was always building or making something. Dad built our house in Lancaster, put additions on the house, built a pool house, built a chicken coop, made model airplanes & flew them, made & flew kites, made wine, made bread, made stained glass lamps etc., made items from wood (examples: a cabinet, waste baskets, windmill for the lawn), planted many gardens for food to freeze & can, Dad was a wonderful Grandparent. Dawn & Tina (my girls) would often stay at my parent's house over night. When Corey (Tina's son) came along, Dad always treated Corey with respect & thoughtfulness. Dad was one of the rare men in Corey's life. Corey's own grandfather (my ex husband) did not treat Corey very well & very seldom saw Corey or spent time with Corey…thank God that my Dad was there…even if it was on a limited basis. Dad was Corey's Great Grandfather! I knew Dad loved me & would do anything for me! Dad, I love you & miss you too!! I'll see you when it is time!!!
