William Woodard Welch Sr's Obituary
WILLIAM WOODARD WELCH SR. age 97, passed away on February 28th, 2009. He was born on September 15, 1911 in Chickasaw, OK. He was a Floridian from the age of 17. Woodard was a naturalist, rancher, lumberjack, hunter, an exceptional story teller of Florida History, owner of Welch’s Furniture Showrooms and a blessed father. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Elizabeth Welch of 65 years and his loving daughter Ann Elizabeth Welch of Fort Myers, Florida. He will be greatly missed by his surviving children. Sons: Bill Welch of Jacksonville, Fl, Jim Welch and Bob Welch of Fort Myers, Fl. Daughters: Linda Welch and Sybil Welch Lazarus of Fort Myers, Fl, Peggy Griffin of Montgomery, Al, Brenda Howell of Atlanta, GA. Mr. Welch is also survived by 13 Grandchildren. Our Daddy loved being with his family and friends. Both Mama and Daddy inspired in all of their children, the gift of song (singing). Daddy, we will miss your songs, your funny stories, your great laugh and your beautiful smile. It is certain that we will always keep a song in our hearts for you.
